Alright, so what is poké? Poké (pronounced poh-kay) is a Hawaiian dish originally consisting of sushi rice, raw fish, and several different toppings served in a bowl. That’s how the name “sushi in a bowl” originated. The Poke Bowl is a method of eating fish from the island of Hawaii. The fishermen cuts the freshly caught fish and seafood into small pieces, and adds veggies to the bowl. It became a bowl of goodness. Some may say it's a refreshing, low-oil version of the rice bowl, or the Korean bibimbap that we are more familiar with. However, the Poke bowl is healthier alternative and has lower calories than the rice bowl and Korean bibimbap. It’s a speedy source of energy and contains way less fat. At Tokyo the bowls have perfectly balanced flavors and a good introduction to this new food hype.
